Project Description

Following on from a recent and extensive evaluative review of ‘Adult Attention Deficit Hyper-Activity Disorder (AADHD), on behalf of the award-winning Mersey Care NHS Trust, commissioners upheld recommendations from our review which has resulted in increased investment in service provision

The outcome of a presentation and feedback session has identified the need to further scope the potential demand for provision on a ‘regional basis’ whereby the footprint from a financial and service model perspective.

Further conversations with CCG/PCT Cluster Commissioners has established that ADHD services are currently procured for the population via a range of providers based upon a ‘postcode’ approach to commissioning which does not necessarily provide value for money or improved patient outcomes. It has been established that the vision for the future would be to procure one service locally for the whole footprint, and move away from sectorised provision where there exists a similar demand.

JMB Health Consultancy has been invited back to continue this work through a further scoping exercise with the following key objectives:-

• To map existing services across the footprint
• To understand the variance in current service models
• To encapsulate the use of shared care
• To scope potential demand across the patch
• To identify the interventions and costs of a ‘treatment journey’ and identify economies of scale
• To identify a pathway with clear outcomes at each stage
• To support the development of future business cases
• To develop a draft proposed new service specification.

It is hoped this work will be rolled out further afield and is already attracting interest from a variety of North West CCG’s.
