Richmond Fellowship commissioned Tony Ryan Associates to carry out an independent evaluation of one of Richmond Fellowship crisis services – Trevayler. The work was commissioned following a competitive tender process.
The project was carried out over a 4 month period and followed a clear structured, planned approach to the evaluation. The methodology combining quantitative and qualitative data analysis, and provided us with a comprehensive assessment of how well the service met its stated objectives, what the main factors were in making the service a success, whilst also providing us with a thorough assessment of what needs to change in our data capture and analysis methods.
A robust approach to project management was followed throughout, with clear tasks, timeframes and allocation of responsibilities. The project plan was closely monitored by Tony and his colleagues alerting us to delays and what impact this could have on the final deadline.
The communication between Tony’s team and that of Richmond Fellowship worked extremely well – progress was being tracked closely, with constructive recommendations made throughout the project to make sure we can refine our approach whilst hitting the final deadlines. Tony and his colleagues were very responsive to feedback and suggestions from ourselves and were keen to deliver an evaluation which met the needs of the organisation.
Tony and team have a comprehensive knowledge of mental health services which provided a useful context for the environment in which the service operates. The team also had a good understanding of evidence and the value of different types of evidence for different audiences and partners.
Tony was able to add to the evaluation by offering a useful external perspective from his extensive networks and significant experience in and knowledge of the sector amassed over the years.
JMB Health Consultancy was selected by our Trust Board to undertake an evaluation of Adult ADHD services. They have been an extremely professional, efficient and enterprising organization. I feel the opportunity I have obtained to work alongside Julie Butterworth was a good learning experience and I would certainly look forward to working with her on further projects.
Julie’s presentation and information was extremely useful to me in my work, she had the ability and knowledge to clearly explain the new Mental Health PBR (Payment By Results) and the changing environment and possible impact. Julie was very professional and very knowledgeable in this area and has clearly worked as an expert in this field. She had excellent presence and presented very well, she was excellent at answering our questions and what was refreshing was the way she also checked our understanding once she had ran through information, she is very conscientious and it is clear she is very passionate and caring about her work.

From start to finish the service provided was excellent, nothing was too much trouble, the presentation was concise to the point and encouraged plenty of debate from within the group.
