logoWe have extensive experience and expertise in evaluating a range of commissioned NHS mental health contracts, making recommendations for change based upon demand and effective models of care.

One Mental Health Trust within the North West, who had commissioned provision for Psychiatric Intensive Care beds (PICU) based upon demand analysis from 2005-2009, included male beds only. The analysis at that time indicated no demand for females, and as such, female beds were procured on an ad-hoc basis out of area.

Through 2012/16 JMB health Consultancy, through service evaluation, data analysis (including episodic), Lengths of Stay, episodes and referral pathway, was able to establish the following key outcomes:

  • A reduction in outlier spend equating to savings of £1.80.5m annually recurring through implementing governance processes, training and effective commerciality
  • Effective demand analysis of bed acquisition for future contracts
  • A review into the effectiveness of PICU for female service users
  • Subsequent strategic direction for local PD services for females
  • Potential reduction in need for service users requiring intensive care to be placed out of area
