Project Description

The National Drug Strategy “Reducing Demand, Restricting Supply, Building Recovery: Supporting People to Live a Drug Free Life” (2010) places a strong emphasis on recovery. Shared Care arrangements are a key part in promoting a recovery-based approach and helping people to become independent of secondary care services. JMB Health Consultancy was commissioned jointly with Tony Ryan Associates by a Public Health Commissioning Team within the North keen to review how shared care arrangements were operationalised, and sought to achieve value for money particularly in the light of the transition to a new provider. This involved a national benchmarking exercise around shared care with the identification of alternative ways and approaches to support severe alcohol dependence with a focus on those high users of services in primary, acute and secondary care.

This also included exploring opportunities for developing combined drug and alcohol strategies and service models.
